Overview

In this project, I collaborated with a UX Manager, a UX Designer, key stakeholders, and developers to design an e-commerce retail website for a furniture store from the ground up. The goal was to create an intuitive and visually appealing platform that catered to user needs while driving online sales and engagement. This end-to-end project required a user-centered approach to ensure the final design provided a seamless shopping experience.

Approach

  1. Competitive Research:

Conducted a thorough analysis of leading furniture

e-commerce websites to identify industry standards, trends, and areas for differentiation.

2. UX Research:

Conducted interviews, surveys, and usability testing to gather insights into customer behaviors, preferences, and challenges.

  1. User Personas:

Developed personas based on research to represent target customers, ensuring the design addressed their goals, needs, and pain points.

4. How Might We Questions:

Framed "How Might We" questions to identify creative opportunities for solving key user challenges.

5. Low-Fidelity Wireframes: Created initial sketches and wireframes to map out user flows, layout  ideas, and functionality.

  1. High-Fidelity Prototypes:

Designed detailed, visually polished prototypes to simulate the final product and validate the overall experience.

By maintaining a collaborative and iterative workflow, we successfully developed a design solution that balanced business objectives with user satisfaction.

Background

We conducted user interviews, surveys, and analyzed in-app analytics to understand the pain points and user needs. We also studied competitor apps and industry trends to gather insights

In collaboration with my teammates and stakeholders, I undertook the task of designing a mattress store website from scratch. This project aimed to create a user-friendly platform that provides customers with essential information about mattresses, store locations, and hours.

We began the process with comprehensive competitive research, user persona development, and user research. This informed the formulation of “How might we” statements, the creation of sitemaps, and the development of both low-fidelity and high-fidelity prototypes.

Feedback was gathered throughout the project to iteratively refine the design and improve user satisfaction.

Why a competitive analysis is needed?

We conducted user interviews, surveys, and analyzed in-app analytics to understand the pain points and user needs. We also studied competitor apps and industry trends to gather insights

To increase traffic and customer inquiries for our Texas store, we needed to design our website in a way that showcases our products and appeals to our target audience.

Before jumping into design, we conducted a competitive analysis to understand how similar mattress or furniture retailers, like Sleep Number, Mattress Firm, and etc, present their products online. This helped us identify industry standards, opportunities for improvement, and customer expectations.

“How Might We” Statements

We conducted user interviews, surveys, and analyzed in-app analytics to understand the pain points and user needs. We also studied competitor apps and industry trends to gather insights

After analyzing user pain points and goals, we developed HMW statements to identify opportunities for improving the mattress shopping experience.
